A FERGUSON, Mo. police officer who shot and killed an armed suspect was shot during a standoff that turned deadly, and he was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The officer, Anthony A. DeSoto, 38, was shot at around 10:20 p.m.

Thursday near the intersection of Main and Main streets in Ferguson, according to the St. Louis County Police Department.
