A “fear” of water prompted a water heater service to close for repairs in suburban San Jose, California, on Monday.

A representative of a water service in the city said a water line was damaged and a leak had occurred on a water heating unit.

The San Jose Water District said in a statement that the outage caused the water heater to shut down and no longer serves the area.

The representative did not provide further details.

The outage has forced some residents to travel to nearby communities to get water.

The water heater was repaired and reopened on Monday afternoon.
