A man was hospitalized in serious condition after a water heater in a home in the city of Sebring exploded Tuesday evening, authorities said.

(Photo: Tampa Bay Times via AP)Sebring Fire Department spokesman Tom Mascaro said the man, who had no identification and was not wearing a mask, suffered minor injuries when the water heater exploded.
“It’s a little concerning that it would happen to a person who has no identification,” he said.
The cause of the explosion was under investigation.
Authorities said the house on the corner of E. and Main streets was not on fire and that the man had a minor medical condition.
No one was hurt in the fire, which was reported around 6:30 p.m. by Sebring police and fire officials.
The Sebring Fire and Rescue Department tweeted that it responded to the incident and was working with the Sebring Police Department.
